Connect to Purpose
Support for young people who feel their life is not going in the direction they want for themselves

We are a charity committed to restorative, systemic care for children and young people facing life’s challenges - working holistically with the whole family and in close partnership with schools, community networks, and agencies to build lasting relational change, improving their life chances so they may live with joy and purpose, and thrive rather than simply survive.

To create a safe and tranquil retreat for young people and their families. Find out more about the vision that drives us.

Our Core Values

Harnessing the power of personal development and encouraging care about local heritage is integral to awareness of identity, healing family relationships, and building capability to overcome difficulties, so young people, along with their family, can thrive and live with joy and purpose, rather than simply survive.

Happy Family

Family & Community

Being part of a family and local community plays a significant role in the well-being and development of young people giving them a sense of inclusion.

Nature & Nurture

Feeling part of nature, we believe, will significantly increase the health and happiness of young people, as well as unleash their creativity and raise their self-esteem.

Teenagers

Spiritual & Personal Growth

Encouraging young people to give time and space for reflection and to develop mindful living, will lay the foundation for building a sense of self and purpose in life.

Heritage & Identity

Exploring local heritage gives our young people an opportunity to root their identity in a sense of connection and belonging.

Words From Our Supporter

“This is a very a straightforward solution. It’s about giving people who have had so little advantage, the creativity to create their own advantages. This is going to be an incredibly important historical moment. This is the moment where we all decided together to create something very, very special.”

Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen

We believe living with purpose is fundamental to our
happiness and wellbeing

For our young people aged 16-25 (especially those from care) the operation of the retreats will provide education, training, apprenticeship and employment opportunities, along with supported independent rural living.

For Young People 16-25

OUR SUPPORTED INDEPENDENT RURAL LIVING PROJECT

Our ambitious long-term plan is to use the retreat to provide transition housing, education and employment support for 16-25year olds who:

  • have left residential care and/or

  • have an Educational Health Care Plan and/or

  • are disadvantaged by circumstance.

Living on site,  will give them the opportunity to experience being part of an inclusive rural community; to develop independent living skills, to build their confidence and self-esteem, and to feel able to take the lead in improving their life and the lives of those around them.

They will be supported to attend a local college to attain qualifications or apprenticeships, perhaps in land-based or heritage restoration and craft skills, and to find appropriate employment, that will enable them to achieve their career aspirations.

They will be encouraged to participate in sport and interest clubs and coastal and countryside activities, as well as local social action events, to engender a sense of belonging, to believe their contribution to society is worthwhile and to enjoy life to the full.

These young people will also be trustees of the C.I.O. responsibility of shaping its future.
